UPDATE: BRIEF: VAGINA DENTATA Magazine

Vagina Dentata Magazine description:

"Despite surveys frequently proving that female audience makes up 40-60% of science fiction film/television viewers, the gender is so rarely catered to, respectfully presented or even featured within the SF genre. Vagina Dentata Zine comments on the current pertinence of Xenofeminism, the integration of cyborgian elements into the everyday, SF references pervading the runway for the last two seasons and as a counter-reaction to the normcore, minimalistic aesthetic of the current decade. As a reaction to the supposed “death of print” and the condescending tone that fashion media adopts, the zine community has flourished with their inclusive rather than exclusive written word, and embrace of niche community spaces rather than dictation. Zines like Polyester, Surface and Pitch have provided a colourful alternative to the history of the medium, whilst others have fully adopted the online format, I hope through research and exploration of concept I can build a new and innovative format for a zine, reinventing the term in my presentation of fantasy and sci-fi females, that reflects the present and the content of the product. Filling a space not yet catered to in the community, and building upon the origin of the zine as a byproduct of science fiction fandoms, I want to provide a colourful and comic take on SF and fashion"

Jasmines personal notes to me:

"Basically what I could really do with illustration wise would be some classic science fiction characters, probably Ellen Ripley, Barbarella, Princess Leia, and Wonder Woman. Shout if you'd prefer to draw anyone in particular or anything! Totally up to you! The style can be open as well, so whatever you're feeling, I love your digital work but I know that takes absolutely ages from personal experience :') So whatever you're comfortable with and if you have time! I know third year is manic! Let me know if you need any other details for your project or anything!"
