Arthritis (JIA and other illnesses that Arthritis Research UK fund research for) Awareness Campaign
B R I E F
Yet to be made specific. In order to do this I will have to talk to people campaigning/working for this cause already and find out what my illustrations can do to help most effectively. Be it an animation, a character design e.g. in wheelchairs etc, posters or canvas bags to raise money etc. I will also contact people dealing with it such as the communities on social media platforms like Instagram. How do charities such as Arthritis Research UK fund research that affects young people… YOUNG PEOPLE ORIENTATED.

As this will be reflecting the fact that it's not just old people that have lived full lives that get arthritis but young people too that are battling with its constrictions daily, I want to make sure it has a fun and vibrant theme, not depressing but still serious and informative in parts. I will explore this more once I know for sure what I am doing.

The audience will be the general public as it is raising awareness. But also young people with arthritis to show them they are not isolated and they are part of a community/ people understand and want to help.

Information regarding Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)...
It is inflammation (swelling) of one or more of your joints. It first occurs before your 16th birthday.
JIA is slightly more common in girls. It most commonly
occurs in pre-school age children or teenagers. There are different types of JIA and symptoms vary between
the different types. JIA may be difficult to control in some people, but most
cases will be well controlled with treatment most of the time. If you have
arthritis as part of another condition, it's often managed in a very similar
way to JIA.

Contact role models/campaigners and see what they suggest.
Brainstorm and think of some of my own ideas- research into awareness campaigns etc.
Contact Arthritis Research UK and Arthritis Care.
Also contact celebrities aka actress who played Miranda in the Paralympics and helped Jaqueline Wilson on her new book character 'Katy'.
Could raise awareness by contacting bloggers or getting them to share my work aka an animation if I choose to create that.
Selena Gomez has recently come out about the fact she suffers from lupus; Arthritis Research UK is the UK's biggest funder of research into lupus.
Lucy mecks awareness for CF : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3265222/Lucy-Mecklenburgh-bares-sultry-shoot-Cystic-Fibrosis-Trust.html#article-3265222
