OUIL505: Beyonce

Beyonce identifies herself as a feminist

"I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to chose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything? I am a woman and when I think, I must speak. We need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as women and take the lead, we have to teach our girls that they can reach as high as humanly possible. That’s what I’m going to do, that’s my philosophy and that’s what (“Girls" - Run The World) is about."

Beyonce- Grown Woman:

If its a competition between girls its not feminism; making yourself 'pretty' for yourself and to be creative should be the reason, not trying to out do each other or gain respect from guys/attention. At the end of the day that will only make you feel more worthless, however you can embrace your features and theres nothing wrong with liking pink nail varnish or wanting to make your eyes look colourful.
